Spot Round is different from Management Quota and Sliding Round conducted offline by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) to fill the vacant seats left after 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the sliding rounds of Online Counselling for the programmes & courses like BBA, BCA, MBA, MCA, BA /BBA LLB, BAJMC (BA JMC), B.Ed, B.Com, B.Tech and LE B.Tech etc.

Important update: w.e.f 2019 admissions for the courses like B. Tech, MBA, BA/BBA LLB, LLM and MCA IP University will not conduct entrance examination instead it will give admission based on the national level tests conducted by different examination bodies, as follows:
- B.Tech — JEE Main Paper-I
- MBA — CAT
- BA/BBA LLB — CLAT-UGC
- LLM — CLAT-UGC
- MCA — NIMCET
And for other programmes such as BBA, BCA and B.Voc etc. GGSIPU will conduct university-level entrance examination named, CET.
All the students are eligible to participate in the Spot Round who have given and qualified the Common Entrance Test (CET) and have registered themselves at ipuadmissions.nic.in after paying counselling participation fees. Even those students can also participate who have been allotted a seat in any college in Round 1st, 2nd, 3rd or sliding and now want to change the college, stream or the shift.
IP University has made two categories of students eligible for the admission under Spot Round, these are:
- Admitted and reported — Students who have been allotted a seat, but want to change the college, stream or shift
- Not Admitted — Students who have not registered, or not paid a part academic fee, or not allotted any seat.
Admitted and Reported Students
Admitted and Reported are those students who have been allotted some college either in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or sliding round and have paid the Part academic fee (Rs. 40000). Such candidates can participate in the Spot Round for change of college, stream or shift.
Not Admitted Students
Not admitted are those students have qualified the CET Exam, but not registered, not reported, not allotted any college in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or sliding round, have withdrawn the admission or failed to pay the part academic fee after allotment of the college in any of the rounds.
Admission Procedure of Spot Round Counselling in IPU
The procedure of Spot Round Counselling for Admitted and Reported Students
Students who have been allotted any college in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or sliding round and have paid the part academic fee and now want to change the college, stream, or the shift can participate in the Spot Round after paying Non-refundable Transfer fee (Rs. 5000) and Spot Round Counselling Participation Fee (Rs. 2000). The transfer and participation fee should be paid in one Demand Draft (DD) in favour of “Registrar, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University” on the day of offline Spot Round Counselling at the allocated centre.
In addition to that, you have to submit all the required and mandatory documents at the time of counselling, which include :
- CET Admit Card (Original)
- Preference sheet of the online choice filling (if applicable)
- Seat Allotment letter (if allocated any)
- Part Academic Fee Deposit slip (if paid already)
- Marksheet and Certificate of 10th Exam (Original and Photocopy)
- Marksheet and Certificate of 12th Exam or Format of self-declaration/ undertaking for result awaited candidates (Original and Photocopy)
- Marksheet and Certificate of Under-graduation Exam or the Format of self-declaration/ undertaking for result awaited candidates (if applicable and Original and Photocopy)
- Proof of Date of Birth (Your 10th mark sheet can also be used as proof of date of birth) – (Original and Photocopy)
- Migration/ Transfer Certificate (if applicable)
- Reservation category certificate (if applicable)
- Medical Certificate (Original)
- Aadhar Card (Photocopy)
- Bank Account Details/ Cancel cheque (photocopy)
- Defense Category certificate (if applicable)
- Demand Draft (DD) as described above

The procedure of Spot Round Counselling for Not Admitted Students
Students who have qualified the Common Entrance Test (CET) and have not been allotted any college in any of the rounds, or not paid the part academic fee, or not registered in the online counselling participation process are eligible to participate under the spot round. Such candidate has to pay the Academic Part fee (Rs. 40000) and the non-refundable Spot Round Participation Fee (Rs. 2000) in one Demand Draft (DD) in favour of “Registrar, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University” on the day of offline Spot Round Counselling at the allocated centre.

The Complete Procedure of Spot Round in GGSIPU
At the end of the Online Counselling Rounds 1st, 2nd, 3rd and sliding, IP University will update through the notification on the official online admission website ipuadmissions.nic.in about the dates, venues and fee details for the various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Once they announce the dates, get Demand Draft and all your documents ready and make sure to have two copies of all the documents (photocopy).
Reach the allocated venue before it starts and submits all the required documents. After submission of the document IP University will notify you about the allotment of the college (if any).
If in case you have not been allocated any college, the Academic Part fee will be refunded in case of Not admitted students where in the case of admitted students, the previously allocated seat will remain safe.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Can I get admission in Spot round even if I’ve not given the Common Entrance Test
No, candidates who have not given or qualified the entrance exam conducted by IP University known as “Common Entrance Test or CET are not eligible to participate in the spot round.
2. I’ve been allotted some college in round 1/2/3, but have not paid the Academic Part fee, can I still participate in spot round?
Yes, students who have been allotted any college in the 1st, 2nd or the 3rd round can participate in the Spot Round by paying the Part academic fee including the counselling participation fee as mentioned above under Not allotted section.
3. How many seats are there in a spot round in XYZ college for ABC Programme?
Spot round is conducted to fill the vacant seats left after 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds of counselling where the numbers of seats may vary from zero to any numbers (but less than 60 obviously).
3. Can I withdraw or request for the cancellation of the admission even after Spot Round?
Yes, you can withdraw the admission even after spot round, but as per Fee Refund Policy for withdrawals/ cancellation of admission, some per cent of the money will be deducted.
4. I’ve lost my Original CET admit card, can I still participate?
Yes, you can still participate — All you have to get an FIR registered with an affidavit of lost/misplaced of the document.
4. I’ve been allotted some college in Round 1/2/3, but I want different college, can I change the college in Spot Round?
Yes, you are eligible to participate in the Spot round even if you want to change the college, stream or the shift.
