Additionally, people are being directed to get eKYC done at private SBI Mini branches, which should be provided free of charge at the bank itself rather than the mini branch. These mini branches charge 20 to 50 rupees for eKYC services. Moreover, cash deposits less than 30,000 rupees are unavailable at the branch, and people are instructed to visit the mini branches for deposits and withdrawals. Although an ATM machine has been installed, it has not been operational since its installation over two years ago.

• Reviewer Comment: The Indian Bank Maskanwa Branch epitomizes pathetic banking services. Despite being part of one of India’s largest banks, it consistently experiences long queues and huge crowds. Ironically, an ATM machine is installed inside the branch but can only be used when the branch is open. The behavior of the staff is often rude and arrogant, and arguments between staff and customers are common. The branch fails to fulfill customers’ banking needs in a single visit. Moreover, while the government of India is striving to digitize processes and simplify things, the Indian Bank Maskanwa branch still adheres to outdated norms. For instance, the bank refuses to link a mobile number to accounts for illiterate individuals without the presence of at least two witnesses, which can be very challenging at times.

The Shitalganj branch lacks an ATM machine, and most of the time, it suffers from server downtime and internet connectivity issues. Passbook printing services are often unavailable, and opening a new bank account proves to be quite challenging. Even if you’ve initiated the process through the paperless online method, the branch staff will insist on filling out a fresh form, which they do not provide. Consequently, customers are compelled to obtain the account opening form from private CSC centers or the nearest photocopy store, where they must pay 10 to 50 rupees for the form. Oral arguments between customers and staff are common, and the staff’s demeanor is frequently rude, often leading to a refusal to address common banking issues.
